• Forest entomology (phenology, dynamics of harmful insects populations, inventory methods, prediction)

• Consequences of global climate change in terms of forest insects distribution and their harmful effect.

• introduced phenological theory of dynamics of pine-needle eating insects population;
• improved inventory and predicting methods for pests, technological ways to protect forests;
• calculated limits for pine-eating insects critical density;
• evaluated physiological and technical harmful effect of trunk insects, probability for tree colonisation, changes of sanitary condition;
• introduced methodological approaches to evaluate a damage caused by pests to pine species;
• specified biology of understudied pests, in particular adventive insects and pathogens;
• developed recommendations on the forest-species complex protection from root-affecting insects;
• developed recommendations on how to inspect pine species whether they are invaded by pests;
• introduced methodological recommendations on how to examine secondary insects foci;
• developed normative standards for quantitative indicators of pests' damage to pine and oak trees condition in the stands of both Ukrainian flat land and Crimea Mountains;
• developed recommendations on how to define qualitative and quantitative impact of pests and pathogens upon condition of the forest species created on vast lands where fires occured;
• introduced Methodological instructions on how to supervise, account, and predict distribution of pests and forest diseases in Ukrainian flat land;
• developed Recommendations on the complex forest pathology research in stands to detect new invasive pathogens and study their effect upon stands' condition. 

Research prospects :

• Defining peculiarities in how pest complexes get formed, including adventive insects and pathogens, evaluation of their damage to main forest-forming species
• Detecting changes in seasonal development and biological peculiarities of the most common pathogens which occur due to climate change
• Assessment of indicators of distribution and development for the most common and the most agressive pathogens depending on forest sites, stands' age, composition, and density
• Evaluation of how agricultural activities effect a distribution of pathogens and their entomophages
• Improvement of the approaches to mitigate pests and pathogens' harmful effect.

• Diagnostics of pathologic phenomena and processes in forest stands and predicting their decline
• Assessment of forest management influence upon insect distribution
