Main areas of research:

• Forest site type assessment of degraded and lowproductive lands in terms of whether they can be used in forest planting
• Studying of biological circulation of substance and its getting more intensified in forest ecosystems
• Impovement of the system of soil and ecological indicators for forest management, mensuration, and soil monitoring under conditions of Ukrainian Left-Bank Forest-Steppe
• Assessment of technogenic impact upon changes of forest site type properties of soil.

Findings:

• Forest communities and forest soil as a carbon sink
• Laboratory analysis of soils
• defined the main soil indicators used to carry out forest site type assessment for sandy, saline, and eroded soils as well as for dwarf soils;
• defined structural elements in a year cycle of circulation of substance in the main forest site types;
• introduced intense technologies for planting seedlings and forest crops based on the usage of polymer materials and growth stimulators for plants;
• defined how mineral fertilizers influence a microbiological regime of soils in different forest site types;
• analysed a system of indicators for soil monitoring under industrial pollution in pine ecosystems.
