Main areas of research:

• IT development in foresty production and forest management;
• creation of IT systems, software solutions and automated workplaces for specialists of different levels;
• creation of the geographic information system of forest management based on advanced programme platforms of highly efficient geographic information databases, as commercial, so free ones. 
• hardware support to define coordinates using global positioning systems (GPS, GLONASS) as well as providing measuring devices for harvest sites defining.
• Geoportal 'Forests of Ukraine'

Findings:

• analysed methods of using the means of global satellite positioning and electronic measuring devices as well as industrial crop-and-quality category structure of felling-area resources;
• developed a computer programme for data preparation for the planar graph in the construction of forest maps;
• developed recommendations on the use of technical means in forest management and forestry production based on GPS-technologies;
• developed information systems for forest fire protection; experimental operation of the GIS "ULIS" software package was carried out;
• implemented the software complex "Subsystem of forest management information" on the basis of Smallworld GIS, the programme to make plans and maps of the stands of enterprises exported from the Smallworld GIS data on the basis of MapInfo; 
• the "Overlay of instrumental survey" module was created for the 'Field GIS of a mensuration operator' software complex;
• created a map of Ukrainian forests.

Research prospects :

• Creation of a geoinformation system for forestry based on advanced software platforms of highly efficient geoinformation databases, both commercial and free of charge;
• Introduction of hardware to determine coordinates using global positioning systems (GPS, GLONASS) and measuring devices for logging.
